In this editorial we want to share some information about the different activities that took place last week in Uruguay.
We had the public gathering at Liberty Square (28 of June) and also a conference on Sexual Diversity. Unfortunately because lack of organization and personal self-interests (namely mutual disagreement- hate) among a great many of the advocacy groups both activities took place at the same date and time of the day leaving no possibility for many of us interested in both activities as we consider every kind of expression relevant to enhance social consciousness on Human Rights, being acceptance of Sexual Orientation one of our major goals. This produces some sort of frustration and anger as to the vital unity of the LGBT moment should have in a place like Uruguay. Something shameful for a LGTB community belonging to such a small society like Uruguay.
For the first time a pride event went on outside the capital city of Montevideo in the county of Cerro Largo, city of Melo. This is something amazing! We celebrate the geographical expansion of any movement advocating for equal rights and social awareness.
We want to share some documentaries and stories we consider very important to ponder upon.
Tribute to Gay Teens condemned to hanging in Iran in 2005 solely on the fact of their sexual orientation. (Music in English- subtitles in Spanish)
Documentary of Gay Teens in the U.S.A. Very interesting description of the situation of thousands of LGTB teenagers not only in the USA but also around the world. (In English, Spanish subtitles, Introduction in Spanish only)
And the complete afterward of the activities planned for the Stonewall Anniversary in Uruguay (only in Spanish):
Pictures of the Venue
Día del Orgullo Gay en la Plaza Cagancha
Pronostican que la marcha gay en Melo será histórica
