An Internet café or cybercafé is a place where one can use a computer with Internet
access for a fee, usually per hour or minute; sometimes one can have
unmetered access with a pass for a day or month, etc. It may or may not
serve as a regular café as well, with food and drinks being served. Wikipedia is very accurate with the definition of what a cybercafé is. In Uruguay it is common for many cybercafés to be open for 24 hours.
Cafés are very common in the country. Every city of Uruguay or even even small rural towns have the access to the internet via the cybercafés. The majority of Uruguayans use them or have ever used them in order to access to this wonderful world of the Internet.
Because cybercafés are popular all across the country they are cheap (around USD 0.60 per hour) and easy to find. Hardly ever will you face a waiting line to get the service. Computers usually run Windows Xp and count (most of them) with a webcam and a microphone (without any extra charge). The speed is pretty good. There's kind of a cybercafé culture especially in the little cities of the interior.
