It is common to see more and more expats everyday walking down the city streets. Traditionally the majority of the expat community was located in Punta del Este where many Europeans, North Americans and mainly Argentines took refuge from hectic life.
Nowadays we see that many people considering Costa Rica or Panama as destination to move but many are interested in both Argentina and Uruguay. Not only Punta del Este but we found traces of the expat communities in Colonia, Montevideo and Costa de Oro in the coast of Canelones. Many locals find it hard to understand the resons to move down here. Well, everyone has a story to tell so it is hard to tell a specific reason. Most of them coincide Uruguay is a good destination not only for the cost of living which is much lower than in the original countries but for the qualitative access to healthcare, banking services, Education and mainly for the safety of the streets and low crime rate. |
